Yes, Dorothy was right, there's no place like home! I was released on Saturday morning and was home by early afternoon, after a quick stop at the pharmacy (priorities). My friends/family have enjoyed my new pain meds - evidently, I am able to entertain them for hours with tales about the dog (we don't have one), scripture verse related to being a physician and a pastor (obviously no one else has read this before) and numerous other monologues that have no connection to the conversation that is taking place at the time.
I'm surprising myself with how I feel. I was a bit terrified to come home and try this without skilled care 24-hours a day. Therefore, I thought by next week I might be able to get started on redecorating the kitchen. With a little push, I could have it done by the time I return to work (just kidding!!!!) You all know me -- I had you going, didn't I???
Yesterday proved a little crazier than usual. Mom hasn't been feeling well for the last couple of weeks and yesterday we finally got her to the BMH E.R. for some tests and evaluation. They think it's a urinary tract infection, and expect her to heal quickly, but have moved her to the health care facility at Westminster so that they can keep a better eye on her. That makes me feel a lot better also. I know it was a rough time for her, but we were blessed with church members and a Pastor who sat with her and reassured her that all would be OK. I don't know what we would do without our church family right now; their prayers and positive attitude and support, plus meals, rides for the boys and love have been a very clear example of God's love.
I am better able to sit in one place to read the blog so please send messages. They help get me through my painful periods (you know, the last 7 hours before the next 8-hour pain pill) and they make me smile as I think of all of you out there braving the cold instead of me.
Love to all of you. A special thanks for my buddies who have stayed with me since I've returned home. Happy 50th birthday to by big brother, Chris. I can't wait to celebrate 50 - and 55 - and 60 - well, you can guess the rest. Birthdays and weight are no longer anchors for me!!!!
Write soon.

So you are home being waited on hand and foot...hope you are not on too many meds to not be able to appreciate it...it won't last long!! As for the kitchen, tell them to do it in black and white and call you when it's done!! You are going to be too busy visiting all your friends who have mssed you.
While you are entertaining family with your wild tales (you should have someone record them...you might have a bestseller in there), I am preparing lunch for the BGC Board and Staff. Wild salmon with dill mustard sauce, sweet potato casserole, green beans and hearts of palm, fruit and wild rice, cactus salad, marinated carrots and sugar cookies (so OK, the Kidz in the Kitchen made those Saturday..only because the staff didn't want me to serve zucchini pie... they want that all to themselves!!)I'm hoping to bribe the Board so we can have a qourum. Talk about whatever it takes!!
If any of this sounds tempting to your palate, let me know and I'd be delighted to bring some your way.
Hoping to talk with you soon.
Jackie
Welcome home, Lenette.
So glad you were able to make the trip. God does work miracles. You will continue to be in our prayers as you heal. Try not to over work yourself on the days you feel like you can do it all. I know you have a great support system, but I am just a phone call away should you need something.
Love and kisses to you,
Marcia Gobble
Lenette-
You are home for Christmas, how wonderful. Are you ready for your Christmas open house???? surel, you've had time to cook and clean, don't forget the presents for all of us!!!
I have a great new soup for you and the boys. I just couldn't bring myself to take food to Tom's, no way!!
You must give us instructions on how we can best help you - an don't be shy. I don't want to interfere but I want to help. Neither of my kids are coming home so it is very quiet for me. Just let me know.
Again, welcome home!!! Roni
Lenette ~
Welcome home. I kept praying you would be home for Christmas to spend it with your boys. You are so brave and strong! I admire you, I really do!
Happy Birthday to Chris too! 50 years old, my my!!
Hi Len,
I just got the blogger address tonight when Carl got home from work. I called yesterday from LAX and talked to Catherine. We didn't get home until about 9:30 pm yesterday.
I changed my reservations and I'll be arriving in Indi on Wednesday, Dec 21 about 3:30 in the afternoon. Chris said he'll pick me up. Carl won't be coming until the 24th as planned.
Carl was able to log in a couple of times while we were in Fiji. We were on a sailboat for the last five days and they only had radios aboard.
Last night we opened mail. This morning I unpacked and started with the laundry. Tomorrow I'll pack and then when I get to Muncie, I'll call Carl and ask him to bring everything that I forgot.
I'm glad to hear that you are home and recovering. I bought lots of massage oil and intend to work you over. I'm trying to get my laptop configured so I don't mess up yours.
